n8n pricing calculator, Cloud or self-hosted at your volume

n8n bills workflow executions, not steps, so the price depends on how often your workflows run. The calculator below compares the n8n Cloud plan that covers your volume with running the Community Edition on your own server.

At what volume does running n8n on your own server stop paying off against n8n Cloud? The answer depends on one number, how often your workflows run, because n8n bills executions, not steps: one execution is one full run of a workflow, however many steps it has. The prices below come from the n8n price list as it stood on 2026-10-23, in euros, as the page showed them.

What counts as an execution

What n8n counts as one execution

public price list · 2026-10-23
Complete · replay anytime
  1. Trigger · a schedule, a webhook or a chat message starts the workflow
  2. Workflow run · all steps run, however many there are
  3. 1 execution · n8n counts the full run once, regardless of steps or data
  4. Monthly quota · each plan tier includes a number of executions a month
  5. Price · the tier that covers your volume sets the monthly price; self-hosted Community Edition has no plan fee

A daily schedule is 30 or 31 executions a month; a workflow that runs every five minutes is about 8,600 to 8,900, as the n8n price list puts it. A webhook workflow runs as often as the event behind it. If your workflows already run, the executions list in n8n shows how many ran last month, which is a better input than any estimate. The arithmetic behind those numbers:

daily schedule: 1 × 30 or 31 days = 30 or 31 executions a month
every 5 minutes: 12 per hour × 24 hours × 30 days = 8,640 executions a month
                  12 per hour × 24 hours × 31 days = 8,928 executions a month

n8n Cloud vs self-hosted

prices 2026-10-23

Monthly cost of n8n at a given number of workflow executions: the smallest n8n Cloud plan that covers it, the self-hosted Community Edition on your own server, and the self-hosted Business licence.

Inputs

One execution is one full run of a workflow, however many steps it has. A workflow every 5 minutes is about 8,600–8,900 a month.

n8n billing

Annual billing is the yearly price divided by 12.

Assumption: €10 a month for a small VPS that runs n8n. Put in what you pay; backups and your time are not counted.

At 10,000 executions a month, n8n Cloud Pro costs €60.00 a month billed monthly; the self-hosted Community Edition costs your server, €10.00 in this estimate.

n8n Cloud vs self-hosted: result
Executions a month10,000
n8n CloudPro, up to 10,000 executions: €60.00 a month, billed monthly
Self-hosted Community Edition€10.00 a month: your server, no plan fee in the price list
Self-hosted Businesslicence up to 40,000 executions + server: €810.00 a month, billed monthly
Cloud minus self-hosted Community€50.00 a month

Prices from the public price list at n8n.io/pricing, read on 2026-10-23. Cloud plans as listed; Enterprise and the Start-up plan have no public price. The server cost is your assumption, not a quote.

The n8n Cloud price is the smallest public tier that covers your volume: Starter with 2,500 executions, Pro with 10,000 or 50,000. Above 50,000 executions a month the price list sends you to Enterprise, which has no public price.

Self-hosting the Community Edition has no plan fee in the price list, so its cost is your server; the €10 a month in the calculator is an assumption, not a quote. Put your own server cost in the field. The Business license is for self-hosted teams that need features such as SSO and Git version control.

At 2,000 executions a month, n8n Cloud Starter costs €24 a month billed monthly, or €20 a month billed annually, against €10 for the assumed server.

At 10,000 executions, Pro with 10,000 executions costs €60 a month billed monthly, or €50 billed annually, so Cloud costs €50 a month more than the assumed server.

At 100,000 executions there is no public Cloud price. The self-hosted Business license for 100,000 executions costs €1,726 a month billed monthly, €1,736 with the assumed server, while the Community Edition still costs only the server.

The gap at the low end is small enough that convenience can decide it. At 100,000 executions the choice is no longer between two prices: it is between a quote from sales, a license for features you may not need, and a server you maintain yourself.

What the calculator leaves out

The server cost covers the machine only, not backups, updates or your time. It also leaves out what the steps call: an Apify Actor started from a workflow is billed by Apify on top of the n8n execution, and Apify pricing explained works through that bill. The plans also differ in how many executions can run at the same time, and the calculator ignores that; the price list shows the limit on each plan card. Active workflows are not a limit: the price list says every plan comes with an unlimited number of them. I left out the Start-up plan, which the price list offers on request at 50% off Business, as well as Business overage and Assistant credits.

What I tested and what is untested

The numbers on this page come from the calculator's tests, which run the same code on the saved price list. I have not run any of these volumes on n8n Cloud or on a self-hosted server for this page, so they show the price list, not a measured bill. The €10 server is a placeholder for your own number; I am not recommending a provider.
